Taecan, Online CLE Pioneer Announces "CiteStreamTM" at ACLEA Annual Meeting REDMOND, WA, July 18, 2003- Tæcan.com, the pioneering international distributor of online Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and VersusLaw, a world leader in providing primary legal authority for lawyers online, today announced a partnership which improves lawyers’ online access to case and statutory citations while completing CLE requirements on the internet. The partnership allows for the implementation of “CiteStream™,” a feature which allows lawyers taking CLE online to stream cited cases and statutes to their desktop/laptop “on the fly,” while completing their CLE online, without ever having to leave the online CLE course. The new feature, which is part of a larger re-write of Tæcan’s pioneering Internet delivery site, was an outgrowth of Tæcan’s recent user survey of more than 5,000 lawyers and its more than 25 Bar Association and individual partners. CiteStream™, was “designed by lawyers, for lawyers” said Patrick Vane, CEO of Tæcan.com, Inc. Once fully implemented, “CiteStream™” allows a lawyer to request selected cases and authorities referred to in an online CLE to appear as a ‘pop-up’ window during the viewing of the CLE. The user can stop the course, scroll through the requested case or statute, and download or print the case. All this can be done without interrupting the CLE seminar the user is viewing. Once fully implemented CiteStream™ will provide access to VersusLaw’s collection of more than four million electronic cases and statutes from hundreds jurisdictions, one of the world’s largest and most affordable sources of primary legal data. The new Tæcan feature, slated to be demonstrated at the ACLEA Annual meeting in San Francisco (August 2nd – 5th) will initially be implemented in CLE catalogs representing large jurisdictions such as Hong Kong, California, New York and Florida. It will ultimately be implemented throughout Tæcan’s catalog of more than 1000 accredited CLE courses.
